DATA Report

Ginny Berry, the Executive Assistant of DATA bus gave me the following information:

1. How many and what kind of vehicles does DATA own?

DATA Bus currently has 16 vehicles of the following type:

2 Buses that are 16 passengers plus 2 wheel chair spots (one that is wrapped completely with Roush Car dealership advertising).     Both of these take diesel fuel.

12 Buses that are 8 passengers plus up to 4 wheelchair spots (when the passenger seats are folded up) (one bus completely wrapped with Franklin advertising).   10 are gas and 2 are diesel.

1 26 passenger trolley bus that also carries two wheel chairs.  The trolley takes diesel.

1 Mini Van that carries 3 passengers and 1 wheel chair.  The mini van takes gas.

2. What do these run on?

Diesel and Gas (see above)

3. How often do the bus/van tanks need to be filled?

We refuel the buses every 100 miles or more. The average each driver travels in one day is about 80-90 miles (a very rough estimate). Each day about 14 drivers run a route. Most of the buses have 30 gallon tanks.  The trolley has a 100 gallon tank.

4. How many Ohio Wesleyan students, if you keep a record of it, use the DATA bus on average?

We don’t track students specifically, but I can tell you how many riders got on and off the bus at the Rowland Ave. stop for our fixed routes.

This is the total amount of riders for this stop for January, February and March 2009

On at Rowland Ave.

Off at Rowland Ave.

Also, to the best of my research, for the same period we had no OWU students ride on Demand Response, where you have to schedule a trip in advance.
